UltimateAVmag.com: Lexicon BD-30

Lexicon has entered the growing field of truly universal Blu-ray players with the BD-30, which can read SACD and DVD-Audio in addition to Blu-ray, DVD, and CD as well as all recordable disc formats. It conforms to Profile 2.0, which means it can access BD-Live content online, and it provides a USB port that lets users access A/V material on a USB storage device. Video processing is performed by Anchor Bay's well-regarded VRS chipset, and the player can decode all current audio formats to PCM via HDMI, though the press release seems to imply that it has no multichannel analog output, which is odd considering the $3500 price tag.

Looks like it's really an Oppo BDP-83 for lots more money.

It does bear a striking resemblance to the Oppo in terms of features and functionality. We don't know how much it will be, but I'd be willing to bet it will be a LOT more than the BDP-83!

I wish it could be said that they made all sorts of changes, tweaked the player and produced a really cool product. Fact is, though, that they flat out dropped an Oppo into a Lexicon chassis with no hardware tweaks: http://audioholics.com/reviews/transports/high-definition-dvd-players-hd-dvd-blu-ray/lexicon-bd-30-blu-ray-oppo-clone/oppo-inside-lexicon-outside-1 The THX certification seems to be questionable as well, since the player has the same non-THX spec bass management issues as the Oppo. In this way, Lexicon and THX really got caught, because those analogue audio measurements are like a thumbprint.
